The athletic training facilities are available to student-athletes who are certified to participate in the intercollegiate athletic program and who are under the care or supervision of a member of the sports medicine staff. All injuries and illness must be reported to the sports medicine staff immediately. The team physician or his designee has final approval for participation in practice or competition.
The athletic training facility in William and Mary Hall is open primarily for injury evaluations and treatments from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Any changes to that schedule will be posted at the entrance of the athletic training facility. Evaluations or treatments may be scheduled at other times by
appointment. While physicians are in the facility on a regular basis, sicknesses and illnesses will be referred for care at the Student Health Center or other appropriate office. Between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. the primary concern and priority in the athletic training room is directed to the preparation and supervision of practice and competition activities. Weekend hours will fluctuate based on practice and event schedules. Weekend hours will be posted at the entrance of the athletic training facility. This is a “self-service” time only unless prior arrangements are made with the staff member coordinating the weekend hours.
No one is permitted access or use of any athletic training facility, including the hydroworx pool at the JLFC without prior approval from a member of the athletic training staff. All therapeutic modalities may only be administered by a member of the athletic training staff.
If there is an emergency and the athletic training facility is not open, individuals should directly access the campus emergency number (911), any campus blue emergency phone, the Student Health Center (SHC), or the Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center Emergency Room.
