- An arrest and/or conviction for a criminal offense related to the possession, use of, or trafficking of substances listed as banned or impermissible substance.
- Observed activity or appearance which varies from the normal routine of a Student-Athlete that would be reasonably associated with the use of Banned Substances such as: changes in physical appearance; conduct; behavior; unusual/unexplained patterns of absence from class; training or competition; an unexplained decline in academic performance; or financial status.
- Charged with a violation of William & Mary or Department of Intercollegiate Athletic policy based on possession, use or affiliation with alcohol, banned and/or impermissible substance.
- Any student-athlete who has tested positive during an NCAA drug screening.
