Testing Based On Random Selection

Table of Contents

At least ten percent of the Student-Athlete population from each team will be tested during the academic year. The screening company will randomly select a number of Student-Athletes to be tested each time they are on campus. All Student-Athletes will have an equal chance at being chosen, regardless of whether they have been previously tested, except those in the safe harbor program, discussed below.

The selection list will be delivered to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine or designee at least 24 hours prior to testing. The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine will notify the Student-Athlete and the respective Head Coach. The Student-Athlete will be presented with the Drug Testing Notification form which includes the location, date and time of the test and instructions to bring a photo ID to the test. This form will be signed by the student athlete acknowledging the notification and the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine or his/her designee. Refusal to sign the Drug Notification form is a form of noncompliance and will be treated as having failed the drug test.
