Each team has a general limit on the total number of individuals permitted in the official travel party.
Individuals who are not eligible for competition (academically or serving a transfer year in residence) are not permitted to travel with the team to away competitions and may not receive meals and lodging benefits from the institution associated with away-from-home competition. Individuals who are injured or voluntarily redshirting for the season are generally NOT members of the official travel squad and will not travel as a matter of institutional policy. Exceptions can be made for an individual in a team leadership or managerial role or when their care for a physical injury would mandate a continuum of care.
Prior to the beginning of the season, the head coach will forward a competition and travel schedule to all participants. It is the responsibility of the student to communicate in a timely manner with their professors relative to potential missed class time due to competition. The professor may, but is not required to, reschedule an exam or project.
Generally, teams travel as a unit to and from competition. The head coach and sport administrator must approve exceptions to this policy. When exceptions are approved, the head coach must have a written statement from the parent or legal guardian granting permission for the alternate travel arrangements. The statement can be sent by email or text to the head coach and forwarded to the sport administrator, preferably 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure. Individuals not traveling with the official travel party assume full responsibility and liability for their travel.
During team travel, all members of the official travel party are representatives of the College and should behave as such. Dress should be appropriate to the situation as dictated by the head coach. All rules of team conduct apply throughout the trip. Consumption of alcohol or use of illegal substances while representing the institution on official travel is strictly prohibited. Violations may result in suspension or dismissal from the team.
