Students who wish to attend a summer session elsewhere and transfer the credits to William & Mary must have prior written approval from the College. No retroactive approval of such transfer credits will be permitted. The required request forms are available on the Office of the Registrar's web page or in the Office of Academic Support Services within the Department of Athletics.
Once a student enrolls at the College, courses taken in a summer session elsewhere may not be used to satisfy proficiency, general education/COLL curriculum requirements, and minor or concentration requirements unless the Committee on Degrees has granted special approval.
As a student-athlete, if you are using credits from a summer course(s) taken elsewhere to meet NCAA satisfactory progress requirements, you must follow the proper procedures set by the College for transferring the credits. Only credits appearing on your official W&M transcript may be considered when reviewing and certifying NCAA satisfactory progress.
Grades earned in summer session elsewhere are not considered when calculating your William & Mary grade point average.
It is recommended that students schedule a meeting with the Asst. A.D. of Academic Support Services; or Assistant Director prior to registering for a summer course taken elsewhere.
