Any individual charged with underage possession of alcohol, drunk in public, or driving under the influence, may face departmental and institutional sanctions. W&M has a zero tolerance policy for DUI. Any individual found to have provided alcohol to a minor may face departmental sanctions, in addition to team or institutional sanctions.

Substance abuse or the use of performance-enhancing drugs is strictly prohibited. The William and Mary Athletic Department has an established Drug Education, Intervention and Testing Policy and has implemented random testing of all intercollegiate athletic teams, the policies and procedures of which are outlined in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Drug Testing Procedure section of this handbook. The NCAA also has a mandatory random testing program and reserves the right to test any participant at NCAA Championships. A positive test result in an NCAA test will cause you to immediately lose your eligibility in all intercollegiate competition for one year. Subsequent positive tests could result in permanent loss of any remaining intercollegiate eligibility.

Be aware that over-the-counter nutritional supplements may contain substances that could result in a positive drug test.
