WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— The William & Mary women's golf team continued its stellar play through the final round of the Tribe Invitational at the Kingsmill River Course on Tuesday, as it posted the lowest team score of the day with a 299 (+11) to finish second at the 54-hole tournament.
 
The outstanding performance matches the program's best finish at its home fall tournament, as the Tribe also placed second in 2015.
 
W&M entered the final round tied for second with Georgetown at 18-over but separated itself during the final 18 holes and finished seven strokes better than the Hoyas. Longwood won the 54-hole tournament with a 21-over 885 (293, 289, 303), while the Tribe finished eight strokes back with a 893 (300, 294, 299).
 
The effort marked the second consecutive season in which W&M finished among the top three teams at the event.
 
Led by freshman Srihitha Mandava's consistent play and fourth-place finish (+8, 224), four W&M standouts placed among the top 10. Junior Jennifer Osborne and freshman Abigail Avallone tied for fifth with a 9-over 225, while sophomore Reagan Garnsey tied for eighth with a 10-over 226.
 
Garnsey's even-par 72 was the Tribe's lowest round on Tuesday, while Osborne closed out the tournament with four birdies on the final day.
 
Longwood's Madison Lehr was the tournament's top individual finisher with a 2-under 214.
 
Competing as an individual, freshman Tess Morris tied for 12th with an 11-over 227, while sophomore Lilly Reed Black tied for 18th with a 16-over 232.  
 
Seniors Faith Garcia (+20) and Samantha Skinner (+23) both competed as individuals and tied for 25th and 29th, respectively.
 
W&M will return to action when it competes at the Elon Invitational on Sept. 14-15.
