Strong Start Propels Women’s Golf to Second Place Through Two Rounds at Tribe Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— The William & Mary women's golf team opened its 2026-27 campaign with an impressive start on Monday, as it is tied for second place after the first day of play at the Tribe Invitational.

W&M posted an 18-over (300-294) through the first 36 holes at the Kingsmill's River Course, tying with Georgetown. Longwood will enter Tuesday's final round atop the leaderboard at 6-over.

The Tribe's 594 ranks tied for the fifth lowest 36-hole score in program history (to par score, +18), while its 294 in the second round is tied for the 10th-lowest mark in program history (to par score, +6).

Freshman Abigail Avallone recorded an impressive debut for the Tribe and is tied for third with a 2-over. The Bethesda, Md., native is just four shots off the lead after registering an even-par 72 in the opening round and a 2-over 74 during the afternoon. She finished the day with seven birdies, three coming in the first round and four in the final 18 holes.

Freshman Srihitha Mandava also posted an exceptional debut and is among the leaderboard's top 10 through 36 holes, as she is currently tied for ninth at 6-over.

Just outside the top 10 is junior Jennifer Osborne, who carded a 7-over and opened the day with a 1-over 73 in the morning after tallying three birdies.

Freshman Tess Morris (+8, individual), sophomore Lilly Reed Black (+9) and sophomore Reagan Garnsey (+10) are all among the top 20 through 36 holes. Black posted the Tribe's best round of the day, as she fired a 1-under 71 in the afternoon after birding four of the final seven holes. Additionally, the score tied for the second-lowest round of the tournament.

Competing as individuals were senior Faith Garcia and senior Samantha Skinner, who are tied for 27th at +14.

The final round is set for a shotgun start on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
