WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's soccer opens CAA play Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Tribe travels to Charleston, S.C., to take on College of Charleston.
Kickoff is set for noon, with the match streaming on FloCollege.
THE TRIBE. William & Mary enters CAA play at 1-4-2 after earning its first victory of the season with a 5-1 win at American on Sunday. The Tribe erased an early 1-0 deficit by scoring five unanswered goals, including four in the second half.
Senior Paige Seitz scored twice, while seniors Ava Schultz and Lindsay Wilson and sophomore Ella Ledwith each found the back of the net. The goals were the first of the collegiate careers of Schultz and Ledwith.
Through seven matches, W&M has scored 12 goals on 90 shots, putting 45 attempts on goal. The Tribe has also generated 41 corner kicks.
SEITZ EARNS CAA HONOR. Seitz was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday following her two-goal performance at American. It marked the first CAA weekly honor of the senior's career.
The Toms River, N.J., native answered American's opening goal just 31 seconds later to tie the match in the 35th minute before scoring again in the 78th. The brace accounted for Seitz's first two goals of the season.
Seitz has appeared in five matches this season and has four points on two goals. She has put three of her four shots on goal.
ABBEY LEADS THE ATTACK. Sophomore midfielder Mia Abbey continues to lead the Tribe offensively with eight points on three goals and two assists. She also leads W&M with 25 shots and 14 attempts on goal.
Abbey added her second assist of the season at American, setting up Schultz's go-ahead goal in the 67th minute.
Sophomore Ellie Leffler is tied with Abbey for the team lead with three goals, while Wilson has added two goals and an assist for five points.
SECOND-HALF SURGE. William & Mary has done the majority of its scoring after halftime this season. Ten of the Tribe's 12 goals have come in the second half, including four in Sunday's victory at American.
W&M has also recorded 50 of its 90 shots and 24 of its 41 corner kicks after halftime.
BREAKING THROUGH ON THE ROAD. Sunday's victory at American marked W&M's first road win since a 3-0 victory at Hampton on Sept. 19, 2024.
The Tribe is 1-2-1 away from home this season. W&M opened the year with a 1-1 draw at Loyola Maryland before losses at Army and App State and Sunday's victory in Washington.
THE COUGARS. College of Charleston enters Saturday at 3-4-2 overall and has been strong at home with a 3-1-1 record. The Cougars are coming off a 1-0 road loss at Coastal Carolina on Thursday, Sept. 10.
Charleston has scored 13 goals through nine matches while averaging 13.2 shots per game. The Cougars have generated 55 corner kicks and have scored on both of their penalty-kick attempts.
Bella Antonio leads the Charleston attack with five goals and 10 points. Three of her five goals have been game-winners, and she has scored on five of her 15 shots. Mary Martin Spinner ranks second on the team with five points on a goal and a team-high three assists.
Ainsley Chunn has started all nine matches in goal for the Cougars, posting a 1.42 goals-against average and 29 saves. Charleston has recorded two shutouts as a team.
TRIBE VS. COUGARS. William & Mary holds a 6-2-5 advantage in the all-time series against College of Charleston.
The Tribe earned a 1-0 victory over the Cougars last season on Oct. 5, 2025, in Williamsburg.
UP NEXT. William & Mary returns home for a pair of CAA matches at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. The Tribe hosts Towson on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m., before welcoming Drexel to Williamsburg on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. for Military Appreciation.
