No. 16 Football Falls at No. 8/9 Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The No. 16 William & Mary football team fell at No. 9/8 Lehigh, 44-20, on Saturday afternoon.
 
Although W&M (2-1, 1-1) outscored Lehigh (3-0, 3-0) in the second half and outgained the Mountain Hawks, 243-121, during the final two quarters, it was unable to overcome an early 30-0 deficit.
 
Running back Jah'Kei Chavis rushed for a pair of touchdowns and logged 51 yards on 10 carries to help lead W&M on the ground, while wide receiver Kai Austin totaled a career-high 10 catches for 82 yards. Chavis' first touchdown came late in the second quarter to put W&M on the scoreboard, while his second came early in the fourth stanza.
 
Quarterback Winston Watkins entered the game following halftime and completed 18-of-22 passes for 164 yards during the final 30 minutes. The Pasadena, Md., native also rushed for a score and posted 36 yards on the ground.
 
Running back Andrew King rushed for a team-high 78 yards on 11 carries, highlighted by a 57-yard run that helped set up the Tribe's first touchdown.
 
Safety David Roulley registered a career-high 10 tackles, while linebackers Harrison Johnson and Christopher Higgins added eight tackles apiece.
 
Lehigh running back Luke Yoder rushed for a game-high 169 yards with three touchdowns, two of which came during the first quarter and helped LU build its early lead.
 
The Mountain Hawks' other touchdowns came via a 50-yard touchdown run by starting quarterback Hayden Johnson and two scores by backup signal caller Derek Morgan, who threw a 22-yard strike to Nick Palumbo and rushed for an 8-yard touchdown.
 
The Tribe will return to action when it hosts Fordham at Zable Stadium next Saturday at 6 p.m.
