RICHMOND, Va. — William & Mary men's soccer freshman forward Brown Huffard was named the CAA Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The honor is the first weekly conference award of Huffard's career after helping the Tribe to its first victory of the season, a 4-1 win over Radford on Sunday night.
Huffard totaled three points on a goal and an assist in the victory. The McLean, Va., native opened the scoring in the 26th minute, finding the back of the net for his first collegiate goal to give W&M a 1-0 advantage.
The freshman added his first career assist early in the second half, setting up Alex Garrison's game-winning goal in the 52nd minute to put the Tribe back in front, 2-1.
Huffard started both matches during the opening week of the season and finished with two shots in the victory over the Highlanders.
William & Mary returns to action Thursday, Aug. 27, traveling to George Mason for its first road match of the season. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in Fairfax, Va.
