It’s Tournament Time: Tribe Hosts Campbell in CAA Quarterfinals

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — No. 6 seed William & Mary men's tennis opens play in the CAA Championship on Friday, April 17, hosting No. 3 seed Campbell at noon at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.

The Tribe enters the postseason with a 9–12 overall record, including a 1–3 mark in conference play, while the Fighting Camels are 9–11 overall and finished 4–1 in the CAA. Both teams carry momentum into the tournament, each winning two-straight matches to close the regular season.

William & Mary has been strong at home this spring, posting an 8–3 record in Williamsburg, and owns a 28–21 mark in doubles dual matches, highlighted by the tandem of Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg. The duo leads the Tribe with a 12–4 record in dual play and ranks among the conference's best, earning four CAA Doubles Team of the Week honors this season .

In singles, Hague has paced the lineup with a team-best 14–4 dual match record, while Trakhtenberg (10–7) and Nikita Bortnichek (8–10) have provided key depth throughout the lineup .

Campbell counters with a balanced lineup that has compiled a 46–68 record in dual singles competition. Thomas Drapeau leads the Camels with an 11–6 dual mark, while Aleksandar Hudjec (10–8) has also been a consistent contributor. In doubles, the pairing of Hudjec and Drapeau has been the team's most effective tandem, posting a 6–2 record in dual matches .

Friday's matchup marks the fourth all-time meeting between the programs, with William & Mary holding a 2–1 advantage in the series. The Tribe claimed the most recent meeting, a 4–3 victory on March 28, 2025, in Buies Creek, N.C.

The winner of Friday's match will advance to the CAA Championship semifinals to face No. 2 seed Elon on Saturday, April 18, at noon at the same site.

Historically, William & Mary has enjoyed success in the CAA Championship, advancing to the title match 12 times and capturing league championships in 2005 and 2015. Overall, the Tribe owns four conference titles, including championships in 1987 and 1990 under the team points format.

William & Mary is hosting the 2026 CAA Men's and Women's Tennis Championships throughout the weekend, with matches continuing through Sunday at the Mackesy Tennis Center. Live stats will be available for each match throughout the weekend.
