WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's tennis fell to Old Dominion, 4–1, on Friday evening at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
The loss moves the Tribe to 3–5 on the season, while the Monarchs improve to 9–3 overall.
Old Dominion claimed the doubles point, winning matches at No. 2 and No. 3. Yanis Moundir and Felix Obermair topped Albert Hansen and Theo Nilsson, 6–3, at No. 2, before Zechariah Hamrouni and Piet Steveker secured the point with a 6–1 win over Nikita Bortnichek and Dylan Chou at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match featuring Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg was left unfinished at 5–5.
In singles play, William & Mary earned its lone point at No. 3. Nikita Bortnichek delivered a straight-set victory, defeating Felix Obermair, 6–4, 6–3.
Old Dominion secured the team win with victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles. Zechariah Hamrouni posted a 6–3, 6–2 win over Austin Cohen at No. 4, and Piet Steveker edged Albert Hansen, 7–6, 6–3, at No. 6.
Adam Majchrzak added a three-set victory at No. 1 singles, 6–4, 3–6, 6–4, over Gur Trakhtenberg. Matches at No. 2 and No. 5 singles were left unfinished.
