Women's Soccer Returns Home to Host CAA South Champion UNCW Sunday

10/24/2026 1:15:00 PM

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's soccer returns to Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field on Sunday, Oct. 25, when the Tribe host UNCW in their final home game of the regular season.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., and the game will be streamed on FloCollege. The contest will also feature a soccer scarf giveaway for fans.

Clear Bag Policy and Metal Detectors
Furthering its commitment to a first class and secure environment at home athletic events, William & Mary has implemented the use of walk-through metal detectors at the entrances to athletic venues (both ticketed and non-ticketed events). This enhanced security method mirrors standard practice at most major professional and intercollegiate athletic events throughout the country and compliments the Clear Bag Policy already in place. Fans will proceed through metal detectors prior to having their tickets scanned or entering a venue for non-tickets events. Entrants will not need to remove items such as belts, cell phones, coins, jackets, jewelry, watches, wallets, shoes or other small objects. If additional screening is necessary, security staff will ask the individual to proceed to a secondary screening area, where they will be asked to divest themselves of certain items and pass through again until clear.

THE TRIBE. William & Mary enters Sunday's contest at 4-7-3 overall and 3-3-1 in CAA play after falling to Elon, 2-0, last Sunday.

The Tribe sit third in the CAA South Division with 10 points, one behind second-place Elon and two ahead of fourth-place Campbell.

W&M returns home following three consecutive road games against Hofstra, Stony Brook and Elon. The Tribe opened that stretch with a 1-0 victory over Hofstra on Oct. 8 before dropping its next two contests.

In Sunday's loss at Elon, William & Mary held a 12-8 advantage in first-half shots but could not break through offensively. The Phoenix scored twice in the final 16 minutes to secure the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Gwen Doughty made her first start since Sept. 6 against VCU and recorded a career-high eight saves. Freshman Kerys Palmer led the Tribe with three shots, while freshman Ashley DeLeo and senior Ava Marvin added two apiece.

Through 14 games, William & Mary has scored 20 goals on 176 shots, including 82 on goal. The Tribe have also generated 82 corner kicks while allowing 62.

W&M has scored 12 of its 20 goals in the second half this season.

MAGNUSON LEADS THE ATTACK. Freshman Ava Magnuson leads William & Mary with five goals, including three game-winners, and ranks second on the team with 11 points.

The Sutton, Mass., native has scored the most goals by a Tribe freshman in a single season since Ivey Crain recorded nine in 2022.

Magnuson has scored all five of her goals in CAA play, including four during a three-game stretch against Drexel, Campbell and Hofstra. She recorded the game-winning goal in each of those contests, helping W&M put together its first three-game winning streak of the season.

The freshman scored twice in the Tribe's 2-1 victory over Campbell on Oct. 2 before netting the lone goal in a 1-0 road win at Hofstra on Oct. 8.

Magnuson was named the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week on Oct. 5 following her two-goal performance against Campbell. She became the first freshman to earn both honors in the same week since UNCW's Morgan Nanni on Sept. 3, 2018.

Through 14 games, Magnuson has recorded 24 shots, including 16 on goal.

ABBEY PACES THE OFFENSE. Sophomore midfielder Mia Abbey leads William & Mary with 13 points on four goals and a team-high five assists.

Abbey has recorded a team-best 40 shots, including 19 on goal. She has contributed to the Tribe's offensive success in conference play, recording a goal and an assist against Drexel before adding assists against Campbell and Hofstra.

Her five assists are tied for the seventh most in the CAA this season.

Magnuson leads W&M with five goals, while Abbey follows with four. Sophomore Ellie Leffler has scored three goals, while seniors Lindsay Wilson and Paige Seitz have added two apiece.

Leffler ranks third on the team with six points, while Wilson and Seitz have each recorded five.

Tegeris has appeared in 12 games, logging 900 minutes with 38 saves, a 1.10 goals-against average and a .776 save percentage.

The junior has recorded two shutouts this season, earning the first of her collegiate career in W&M's 4-0 victory over Drexel on Sept. 27 before making six saves in a 1-0 road win at Hofstra on Oct. 8.

Doughty returned to the starting lineup against Elon last Sunday and recorded a career-high eight saves while playing all 90 minutes.

Elon sits second with 11 points and a 3-2-2 mark, followed by William & Mary with 10 points at 3-3-1. Campbell is fourth with eight points, while Charleston follows with seven.

The Tribe have an opportunity to strengthen their position in the division standings over its final two contests, beginning with Sunday's home game against UNCW.

William & Mary concludes the regular season Nov. 1 at Hampton.

THE SEAHAWKS. UNCW enters Sunday's contest at 10-0-6 overall and 5-0-2 in CAA play after clinching its second consecutive CAA South Division championship with a 4-0 road victory over Charleston last Sunday.

The Seahawks have secured the No. 1 seed in the South Division and will host a CAA tournament semifinal on Nov. 8.

Caigan Leonard follows with 18 points on six goals and six assists, while Allie Planeaux has recorded 15 points on four goals and seven assists.

Planeaux and Ava Vaughan are tied for the conference lead with seven assists apiece, while Longwell and Leonard are tied for third with six each.
