Clear Bag Policy and Metal Detectors at Zable Stadium in 2026
Furthering its commitment to a first class and secure environment at home athletic events, William & Mary will implement the use of walk-through metal detectors at the entrances to athletic venues (both ticketed and non-ticketed events). This enhanced security method mirrors standard practice at most major professional and intercollegiate athletic events throughout the country and compliments the Clear Bag Policy already in place. Fans will proceed through metal detectors prior to having their tickets scanned or entering a venue for non-tickets events. Entrants will not need to remove items such as belts, cell phones, coins, jackets, jewelry, watches, wallets, shoes or other small objects. If additional screening is necessary, security staff will ask the individual to proceed to a secondary screening area, where they will be asked to divest themselves of certain items and pass through again until clear.
Cashless Concessions for 2026-27
W&M, in partnership with W&M Dining and Aramark, has implemented cashless concessions at all home athletic competitions for the 2026-27 academic year in an effort to improve speed of service and the overall fan experience. The transition to fully cashless transactions at concession stands is designed to reduce wait times and streamline the purchasing process for fans. The move follows a growing trend among collegiate and professional stadiums and sporting venues across the country and reflects support expressed in a recent survey of William & Mary fans. All concession stands at W&M Athletics venues will accept major credit cards, including Discover, Mastercard and Visa, as well as mobile payment options including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. Cash will no longer be accepted at concession stands.
W&M enters Saturday's matchup with a 3-4 overall record and a 1-3 mark in conference play after closing its non-conference schedule with a 17-14 win at NC Central in its most recent outing. The Tribe owns a 57-39 all-time record in Homecoming games and has won 18 of its last 26 contests during the annual celebration in Williamsburg. W&M has also won five of its last six games following an open date.
Quarterback
Winston Watkins ranks second in the Patriot League in passing efficiency (141.1), while wide receiver
Khylil Johnson ranks fourth nationally in yards per catch (23.12). Defensively, linebacker
Harrison Johnson ranks 11th nationally with 9.8 tackles per game, while linebacker
Elijah Rainer has averaged 10.5 tackles per game over the last two contests and is tied for the national lead with three fumble recoveries.
Georgetown has bounced back from a 0-4 start by winning its last two games against Bucknell and at then-No. 19/22 Colgate. The Hoyas rallied from a 17-0 deficit at Colgate last Saturday, shutting out the Raiders in the second half to secure a 27-17 victory.
Quarterback Gavin Beard earned Patriot League Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week honors after completing 24-of-33 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns in his second career start.
Saturday's matchup will be just the fourth meeting between William & Mary and Georgetown, with the Hoyas holding a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series. Georgetown won the inaugural meeting, 66-0, in 1911, before the teams split their next two contests in 1933 and 1934. All three previous matchups were played in Washington, D.C.
