THE TRIBE. William & Mary enters Sunday's contest at 4-6-3 overall and 3-2-1 in CAA play after having its three-game winning streak snapped in a 1-0 loss at Stony Brook last Sunday.

The Tribe sit second in the CAA South Division with 10 points, four behind first-place UNCW and two ahead of third-place Elon.

W&M earned three consecutive conference victories over Drexel, Campbell and Hofstra before falling to the Seawolves. The Tribe outscored its opponents, 7-1, during the winning streak, including shutout victories over Drexel and Hofstra.

In Sunday's loss at Stony Brook, William & Mary held a 12-10 advantage in shots, including an 8-5 edge in the second half. The Tribe put five attempts on goal but could not find the equalizer after the Seawolves scored in the 73rd minute.

Through 13 games, William & Mary has scored 20 goals on 162 shots, putting 77 attempts on goal. The Tribe have also generated 76 corner kicks while allowing 56.

MAGNUSON LEADS THE ATTACK. Freshman Ava Magnuson leads William & Mary with five goals, including three game-winners, and ranks second on the team with 11 points.

The Sutton, Mass., native has scored all five of her goals in CAA play, including four over the Tribe's last four games. She recorded three consecutive game-winning goals against Drexel, Campbell and Hofstra.

Magnuson scored the lone goal in W&M's 1-0 road victory over Hofstra on Oct. 8, finding the back of the net in the 53rd minute off an assist from sophomore Mia Abbey.

The freshman was named the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week on Oct. 5 following her two-goal performance against Campbell. She became the first freshman to earn both honors in the same week since UNCW's Morgan Nanni on Sept. 3, 2018.

Magnuson has recorded 23 shots this season, including 15 on goal.

ABBEY PACES THE OFFENSE. Sophomore midfielder Mia Abbey leads William & Mary with 13 points on four goals and a team-high five assists.

Abbey has recorded a team-best 40 shots, including 19 on goal. She has contributed to the Tribe's recent offensive success, recording a goal and an assist against Drexel before adding assists against Campbell and Hofstra.

Magnuson leads W&M with five goals, while Abbey follows with four. Sophomore Ellie Leffler has scored three goals, while seniors Lindsay Wilson and Paige Seitz have added two apiece.

Abbey's five assists are tied for the fifth most in the CAA this season.

TEGERIS IN GOAL. Junior goalkeeper Mia Tegeris has started each of the Tribe's last seven games, helping W&M earn three victories and two shutouts during that stretch.

Tegeris recorded the first shutout of her collegiate career in William & Mary's 4-0 victory over Drexel on Sept. 27 before making six saves in a 1-0 road win at Hofstra on Oct. 8.

The junior played all 90 minutes against Stony Brook, finishing with four saves.

Through 900 minutes this season, Tegeris owns a 1.10 goals-against average with 38 saves and a .776 save percentage. She is 4-4-1 in goal with two shutouts.

CAA SOUTH DIVISION RACE. Sunday's game carries significant implications for the CAA South Division standings as William & Mary and Elon enter the contest separated by just two points.

UNCW leads the division with 14 points and a 4-0-2 conference record, followed by William & Mary with 10 points at 3-2-1.

Elon sits third with eight points and a 2-2-2 mark, while Charleston follows with seven points.

A victory would allow the Tribe to extend its advantage over the Phoenix to five points, while an Elon win would move the Phoenix ahead of W&M into second place.

THE PHOENIX. Elon enters Sunday's contest at 7-3-4 overall and 2-2-2 in CAA play. The Phoenix are unbeaten at home this season with a 5-0-1 record and has not lost at Rudd Field in its last 14 games.

Elon is coming off a 2-2 draw at Monmouth last Sunday, rallying from a two-goal deficit to earn a point. Jess Beck scored in the 39th minute before Lauren McCauley netted the equalizer in the 63rd.

The Phoenix have scored 32 goals through 14 games, averaging 2.29 per contest. Elon has recorded 215 shots, including 110 on goal, while generating 53 corner kicks.

Elon leads the CAA in goals per game, assists per game and shots on goal per game. The Phoenix have scored multiple goals in nine of its 14 contests this season.

Junior forward Isa Murdock leads Elon with 17 points on six goals and five assists. Murdock has recorded a team-high 53 shots, including 28 on goal, and was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 7.

Gabby Tirado ranks second on the team with 12 points on four goals and four assists. Beck and Jordan Green have scored three goals apiece, while Talia Feigin leads the Phoenix with six assists.

Naomi Person has started 13 of Elon's 14 games in goal, recording 40 saves with a 1.31 goals-against average and a .741 save percentage.

The Phoenix have recorded five shutouts as a team this season.

Elon is the defending CAA champion after capturing the conference tournament title in 2025. The Phoenix advanced past William & Mary in the quarterfinals before defeating UNCW in a penalty shootout in the semifinals and Stony Brook in a penalty shootout in the championship game.

TRIBE VS. PHOENIX. William & Mary trails Elon, 6-5-2, in the all-time series.

The teams met twice in Williamsburg last season, splitting the two contests.

W&M earned a 2-1 victory over the Phoenix in the regular season on Sept. 27, 2025, before Elon returned to Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field on Oct. 30 and claimed a 1-0 victory in the CAA quarterfinals.

The Phoenix scored the lone goal of the postseason matchup in the first half and held off the Tribe to advance.

William & Mary's last road victory against Elon came on Oct. 27, 2015, when the Tribe earned a 2-0 win.

The programs last met at Rudd Field in 2024, when Elon earned a 2-1 victory.

UP NEXT. William & Mary returns home Sunday, Oct. 25, when the Tribe host UNCW in CAA action at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., and the game will be streamed on FloCollege.

The game will also feature a soccer scarf giveaway for fans.
