WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary football standouts
Ryan McKenna and
Trey McDonald were recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom and on the field by being named to the FCS Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Academic All-Star Team.
The honor marks the second consecutive season that McKenna has garnered the national distinction.
The elite group of 57 student-athletes chosen for the honor were selected from an impressive collection of exceptional candidates considered from around the nation.
Selected to the Stats Perform FCS All-America Team this season, McKenna is a three-time All-CAA standout who earned first team accolades in 2025 after helping W&M rank fourth in the conference in scoring (29.5) and No. 1 in the league in red zone scoring conversions (91.1%).
A two-time team captain and 2024 Campbell Trophy Semifinalist, McKenna finished his career with 47 starts, which is just one shy of the program record set by B.W. Webb (2008-12) and Peter Reid (1987-91).
An outstanding student, McKenna earned his undergraduate degree in finance and master's degree in finance. McKenna garnered CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll distinction eight times and was recognized on W&M's Dean's List.
An All-CAA selection in 2024, McDonald was team captain and a three-year starter at tight end who contributed in numerous ways to the Tribe's success. In addition to helping W&M establish itself among the nation's top rushing attacks during the past few seasons, he also totaled 23 receptions for 264 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
Honored as a 2025 Campbell Trophy Semifinalist, McDonald's excellence extended to the classroom where he earned his undergraduate degree in kinesiology and health sciences, while he is currently pursuing a master's degree in business analytics. A five-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll honoree, he earned W&M's Dean's List recognition twice.
