WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary women's tennis opened the fall season, winning four titles at the 30th Tribe Invitational over the weekend.
 
Junior Francesca Davis highlighted the Green and Gold effort, claiming a crown in both singles and doubles. She won the Gold Singles Flight and teamed with freshman Tilda Larsson to take home the Colonial Doubles Bracket. Senior Emma Pell won the Red Singles Flight, while senior Sia Chaudry and freshman Julia Viesi claimed the Coastal Doubles Bracket.
 
Davis did not drop a set in going 3-0 in singles action. She rolled in the quarterfinals - 6-1, 6-2 over ECU's Reese Calvo - and the semifinals - 6-1, 6-3 over Lainey O'Neil of Richmond. In Sunday's championship, the Tribe junior topped South Florida's Charlotte Ruud, 6-1, 7-6 (3), to take home the Gold Bracket.
 
Pell won a match each day to win the Red Singles Draw. She downed Penn's Varsha Vedula in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, on the opening day, before picking up a convincing 6-0, 6-2 victory in the championship match over ECU's  Veronika Pavlenko.
 
W&M won two of the three doubles flights at the Tribe Invitational. Both the teams of Larsson and Davis as well as Chaudry and Viesi went 3-0 to take home their respective titles.
 
Larsson and Davis topped ECU's Skylar Moody and Reese Calvo, 6-3, on Saturday, before picking up two wins on Sunday. The Tribe tandem downed JMU's Brooklyn Hoffmann and Sophie Williams, 6-4, in the semifinals and rolled to a 6-1 victory over Penn's Esha Velaga and Joleen Saw in the finals. With the championship win, Davis notched her 50th career doubles victory with the Tribe.
 
In the Coastal Doubles Bracket, Chaudry and Viesi needed a tiebreaker to down Veronika Pavlenko and Ivona Savekova of ECU, 7-6 (3), on Saturday. On the final day of the tournament, the Tribe duo won matching 6-2 contests over JMU's Mia Saveljic and Anna Kantor in the semifinals and the combined pair of Reka Matko of JMU and ECU's Joan Madi in the finals.
 
Freshmen Alexia Gonzalez-Galino, Rebeka Svabikova, and Viesi each recorded their first career singles wins over the weekend. In the White Singles Draw, Gonzalez-Galino split her matches, including a 6-2, 7-5 win over USF's Loana Vargas Gonzalez in the consolation side. After dropping her first match of the tournament, Svabikova won both of her consolation matches, topping Richmond's Abby Lee, 6-0, 6-1, on Saturday, before downing USF's Amelie Drukerova in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 10-1, on Sunday. Viesi also record her first career win in the Red Singles Flight over JMU's Reka Matko, 6-2, 6-3.
 
In the Green Singles Bracket, Chaudry and senior  Yaelle Vaissaud both record a win. Chaudy topped ECU's Kim Auerswald, 6-4, 7-5, on Sunday. Vaissaud won her quarterfinal match on Saturday, 6-2, 6-3, over Lara Bakhaya of Richmond, before falling in the semifinals. 
 
Sophomore Mira Kernagis and junior Parker Debnam recorded singles wins in the Black and Grey Draws, respectively. Kernagis advanced to the semifinals with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Francesca Miglio of USF, while Debnam won a consolation match over Richmond's Amy Walsh, 6-4, 6-3.
 
The Tribe returns to action next week when it travels to Cary, N.C. to take part in the ITA All-American Championships at the Cary Tennis Park. The event begins on Sept. 20 and runs through the finals on Sept. 28.
