NORFOLK, Va. — William & Mary field hockey dropped a road game at rival Old Dominion, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon.
Junior goalkeeper
Alexandra de Jesus highlighted the Tribe's effort with 24 saves on the afternoon. The total is the fourth most in school history, most since 1994, and is also the most in the country so far in 2025. She recorded seven saves in each of the first two quarter, before tallying six in the third and four in the final frame.
Old Dominion (1-1) set the pace early with two goals just over a minute apart. Josie Painter opened the scoring in the sixth minute, before Cosima Perleth made it 2-0 in the seventh minute. Mackenzie Olsommer added to Old Dominion's tally in the 13th minute as the Monarchs ended the quarter up 3-0.
In the second quarter, junior
Alexandra de Jesus made saves on shots from ODU's Sian Emslie and Madison Zalewski within the first five minutes.

Anya Green followed up the rebound. The W&M (0-2) midfielder's shot was denied, preserving ODU's lead.
Perleth scored her second goal just over four minutes into the second half to increase the Monarchs' lead. ODU added to its cushion with goals in the 57th and 60th minutes by Sian Emslie and Josi John to provide the final margin.
W&M continues its in-state road trip, traveling to Richmond to face VCU on Friday, Sept. 5, at 3 p.m.
