Men's Tennis Earns CAA Road Win at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – William & Mary men's tennis won two of the final three matches in three sets to pick up a CAA road win at Campbell, 4-3, on Friday evening.

After the Tribe (5-8, 2-2 CAA) captured the doubles point, freshman Raz Katz won in straight-sets at No. 6. With the contest even at two, the balance of the tilt came down to three-set matches at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5.

Senior Sean Joseph won in three at No. 5, while sophomore Nikita Bortnichek rallied for a three-set win at No. 3 to secure the team victory. It marked the first meeting between the teams since the Camels joined the CAA.

How It Happened
- Joseph and freshman Gur Trakhtenberg won their fifth match in a row, dropping just two games in a 6-2 win over Luke Tollenaar and Alex Fragasso at No. 2. The Tribe pair moved to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in CAA play.
- Sophomore Oliver Hague and junior Albert Hansen secured the initial point of the match, topping Adi Dagan and Aleksandar Hudjec, 6-4, at No. 3. It was the pair's first win of the year.
- Campbell (6-11, 0-3 CAA) won at the No. 1 and No. 4 singles positions to briefly take a 2-1 lead, before Katz won his third-straight on line six to pull W&M even. The Tribe rookie downed Matias Lofink, 6-3, 6-3, for his 11th win of the year. He improved to 6-5 in dual-match action.
- Joseph picked up his 11th win of the season in three-sets at No. 5 to move the Tribe in front, 3-2. He split 6-2 sets in the opening two against Hudjec, before pulling out the third by a 6-2 scoreline to secure the victory. It was his fourth dual-match win of the season.
- After a Camels win at No. 2, Bortnichek clinched the Tribe road victory with a come-from-behind win on line three. Dagan won the opening set, 6-3, before the Tribe sophomore stormed back to win the second, 7-5, and third, 6-2, to notch the clincher. It marked Bortnichek's 10th singles win of the year and fifth in dual-match play. He moved to 2-1 at No. 3 and 3-1 in CAA play.
