Baseball Pounds Out 15 Hits in Win over Marist

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The William & Mary offense exploded for 15 hits as they took down Marist 15-4 on Sunday afternoon at Plumeri Park to sweep the series.

The Tribe (4-3) scored in all but one inning. Third baseman Derek Holmes had a perfect day, going 3-for-3 with three RBI. Second baseman Matthew Kosuda also collected three hits and three RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
William & Mary opened the scoring in the first inning, taking advantage of two errors by Marist (0-7) that allowed shortstop Jamie Laskofski to score.

The bats came to life in the second inning when W&M exploded for six runs. Right fielder Charlie Iriotakis started the scoring with an RBI triple. Holmes followed up with a run-scoring single for a 3-0 lead.

Laskofski then chipped in a two-run single, part of a 2-for-4, three-RBI day for the freshman. He also drove in a run in the third.

Center fielder Ben Parker added to the lead with an RBI double, while first baseman Anthony Greco capped the inning with a single that plated one as W&M went ahead 7-0.

LHP Tom Bourque got the starting nod for the Tribe, going 2.1 innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out three.

Holmes would extend the advantage in the fourth, driving in two runs with a single. Then Kosuda took his turn, lacing a double to right that drove in Iriotakis.

Kosuda did more damage in the sixth, plating two with another double that made it 14-4. He then came around to score on a double-steal attempt, giving W&M their 15th run of the day.

RHP Nick Lottchea was the pitcher of record, going 3.2 innings with two unearned runs allowed plus five strikeouts and no walks. RHP Connor Kolarov and LHP Phin Scott teamed up for a scoreless seventh.
