WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's tennis pair of junior
Francesca Davis and freshman
Tilda Larsson was one of 30 nationally selected to compete at the ITA Conference Masters Championships, Nov. 6-9, at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
The Tribe duo is the CAA representative at the national event. It marks the second-straight season in which the Tribe has had a CAA representative at the ITA Conference Masters Championships. Last season,
Hedda Gurholt competed in the 30-player singles draw.
The 30-team doubles draw opens on Thursday, Nov. 6, with the first round. From the event, the top three teams (champion, runner-up, third-place finisher) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship, which is set for Nov. 18-23 in Orlando, Fla., at the USTA National Campus. Players and teams were selected to compete in the ITA Conference Masters Championships through various qualifying routes. With representation from across the Division I landscape, conferences had the ability to determine how they wanted to select their representatives for the tournament with some holding conference tournaments and other qualifying factors to select players.
Davis and Larsson open the championship against Youngstown State's Line Greyling and Yeseniia Ovcharova on Thursday at 4 PM PT (7 PM ET). The winner faces the victor between Xavier's Clara Owen and Abby Nugent, who are the No. 6 seed and ranked No. 40 nationally, and Denver's Louise Wikander and Marley Lambert in the second round on Friday at 12:30 PM PT (3:30 PM ET). Greyling and Ovcharova, who are 4-2 this season, won the Horizon League Doubles Tournament during the fall to earn their spot in the tournament.
Davis and Larsson have been impressive during the fall season, going 10-1 as a duo across four events. Davis is W&M's school record holder for career doubles winning % at 81.4% (57-13) over her three seasons.
