Volleyball Ends Regular Season at Hampton

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary volleyball will conclude the regular season with a pair of visits to in-state foe Hampton at Holland Hall this weekend. The first match will get underway on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by the season finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Both contests will be streamed on FloCollege. Live stats will be available along with live updates from @WMTribeVB on social media.

LAST TIME OUT
William & Mary sent its seniors out in style with a thrilling five-set victory against Charleston on Saturday. The Tribe went down 2-1 before rallying to win the fourth set and force a decisive fifth game. W&M trailed on match point 16-15 before scoring four of the final five points to win 19-17.

The Tribe posted its third-best hitting percentage (.279) of the year and had a season-high 60 assists.

LAYING DOWN BRICKS
Audrey Brcka registered a career-high 18 kills in the win over Charleston on 51 attacks. The performance continues a stretch of eight straight games with double-digit kills for the junior outside hitter. Since Oct. 17, Brcka ranks sixth in the CAA in blocks per set (3.45).

RECORD WATCH
Avery Horejsi is averaging 4.64 digs per set, which is currently the second-most ever by a Tribe player in the current scoring era (since 2008). The fifth-year libero ranks third in the CAA in digs per set and total digs (436).

POSTSEASON ODDS
The Tribe enters the weekend one game behind Stony Brook for the sixth and final spot in the CAA Tournament. W&M can clinch a postseason berth in the following scenarios:
  • Two wins against Hampton AND two losses by Stony Brook (at UNCW)
  • A three-way tie between W&M, Stony Brook, and Northeastern, in which case W&M would advance based on head-to-head record against the tied teams (3-1).
  • A four-way tie between W&M, Stony Brook, Northeastern, and Elon, in which case W&M would advance based on head-to-head record against the tied teams (3-1).
STAT NUGGETS
  • The Tribe leads the CAA in total blocks (252.0) and is second in blocks per set (2.65), ranking top-25 nationally in both categories.
  • Ryann Love posted matches of six and seven total blocks in the series against Charleston. Her 13 total blocks led the conference over the weekend.
  • Beatriz Silva is averaging 8.52 assists per set in her last six contests, ranking fourth in the CAA over that span.
  • In the win over Charleston, Devereaux Hoxsie posted eight kills on 14 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage, her highest mark of the season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Hampton is searching for its first CAA win of the season. The Pirates are led offensively by freshman outside hitter Racquel Frazier's 217 kills. Sophomore setter Morgan Warren has racked up 433 assists, averaging 6.46 assists per set.
