Tribe Sweeps Northeastern to Cap Perfect Weekend

Volleyball Heads to UNCW on Friday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary volleyball will return to the Tarheel state as they take on UNCW for a pair of matches at Hanover Hall this weekend. The first match will get underway on Friday at 6 p.m., with the second match to follow on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Both contests will be streamed on FloCollege. Live stats will be available along with live updates from @WMTribeVB on social media.

LAST TIME OUT
W&M secured its first conference sweep of the year, taking down Northeastern 3-0 and 3-2 at Kaplan Arena last weekend. The Tribe staged a dramatic rally in the fifth set on Friday, trailing on match point in the fifth set before scoring the final three points to win 17-15.

On Saturday, the Green & Gold won in straight sets, posting its second-highest attack percentage (.296) of the season while holding Northeastern to a .143 clip.

QUEEN BEE
Beatriz Silva posted a season-high 40 assists in Friday's victory over the Huskies. She also recorded two double-doubles, tallying 15 digs in game one and another 11 in game two to go along with 29 assists.

PICKING UP STEAM
Over her last three matches, Audrey Brcka is hitting .283 with 38 kills, two double-doubles, and five service aces.

DIGGING DEEP
Avery Horejsi is averaging 4.63 digs per set, ranking 31st in Division I and third in the CAA. The fifth-year senior libero dug out 26 balls in the Tribe's five-set win on Friday and added nine assists on the offensive end.

STAT NUGGETS
  • The Tribe still leads the CAA in total blocks (211.0) and is second in blocks per set (2.64), both figures ranking top-25 in Division I.
  • Nicole Smith has posted back-to-back outings with double-digit kills, totaling 25 over that span.
  • The 12 service aces in Friday's 3-0 win was tied for the most this season, matching the dozen vs. Old Dominion on Sep. 5.
  • W&M's wins over Northeastern marked its first sweep of a conference foe since Hampton on Nov. 15-17, 2024. It was also the first season sweep of the Huskies since 2015.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
UNCW has just three wins on the season, including two in conference play. The Seahawks are led by redshirt junior Hannah Forbes' 169 kills. Sophomore middle blocker has tallied 73.0 blocks and posted an average of 1.06 blocks per set, ranking third in the CAA.
