BLACKSBURG, Va. - William & Mary junior Oliver Hague and sophomore Gur Trakhtenberg both advanced in the main singles and doubles draws at the ITA Atlantic Region Championships on Friday.
 
In singles, Trakhtenberg and Hague each posted easy straight-set victories in the opening round of the main draw. Trakhtenberg dispatched of Virginia Tech's Patrik Jurina, 6-3, 6-2, while Hague topped Georgetown's Arthur O'Sullivan, 6-3, 6-2. The victories were  the first of the fall campaign for Trakhtenberg and Hague.  
 
In the second round on Saturday, Hague faces No. 5 seed Siwanat Auytayakul of Liberty, while Trakhtenberg squares off with No. 9-16 seed Yanis Moundir of Old Dominion.
 
In doubles, Trakhtenberg and Hague are the No. 5 seed in the regional and received an opening-round bye. The pair picked up an 8-5 win over ODU's Aryan Saleh and Piet Steveker to earn a spot in the round of 16. The Tribe tandem improved to 3-1 on the year and will face the Virginia Tech duo of Blake Hilsen and Eyal Shumilov on Saturday.
 
Senior Albert Hansen and junior Nikita Bortnichek won their opening round match in the main doubles draw. The Tribe pair topped the JMU team of Grant Kroodsma and Damian Sancilio, 8-3, before falling to the draw's No. 3 seeded Liberty team of Auytayakul and David Ekpenyoung in the second round.
 
In the consolation singles draw, Bortnichek and sophomore Theo Nilsson picked up singles wins. Bortnichek made quick work of Mount St. Mary's Gaonkar Akarsh, 6-2, 6-4, for his third win of the fall. Nilsson needed three sets, but tallied his second win, downing Loyola's Ryan Gill, 7-6 (4), 2-6, 12-10.
 
The ITA Atlantic Region Championship continues on Saturday with the main singles draw beginning at 9 a.m.
