TRIBE NOTES
Last Time Out
W&M leveled their CAA record to 1-1-0 with a road conference win over Northeastern last time out, 2-0. The two teams batted the rain and slick pitch conditions on a gloomy Saturday in Massachusetts and sat tied 0-0 after one half of play. The Tribe came out and grabbed momentum early in the second half, with
Webb Kosich scoring just 90 seconds into the frame by collecting a ball that hit off the keeper's hands via an
Evan Rabush cross. Rabush was involved on the W&M insurance goal as well, taking a pass from
Tre Barrett and finding
Sam Delgado for his second goal of the season.
Ryan Eapen was key for W&M in net, making five saves in a game where the Tribe was outshot 17-7.
Rookie Honors
Ryan Eapen has started the last five games in goal for the Tribe, after redshirting a year ago, and earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors this week for his five saves against Northeastern. The selection is the first conference honor of Eapen's career. He has a total of 23 saves with a .821 save percentage and 1.07 goals against average.
Road Warriors
The win on the road at Northeastern was the first time that the Tribe won their opening CAA road game since 2011. Two of W&M's three wins this year have come on the road.
Not Afraid of a Challenge
The Tribe's 2024 schedule, as it does many years, offers
Chris Norris' squad the chance to go toe-to-toe with some of the best programs in the nation. W&M's schedule currently features five nationally ranked opponents. The Tribe opened CAA play with No. 24 Hofstra before the meeting with No. 15 Penn. 14
th ranked Elon still lies ahead in conference play, while W&M will host No. 6 North Carolina on Oct. 15 as well as No. 18 NC State on Oct. 23.
Scouting the Patriots
George Mason is off to a strong start in their 2024 campaign with a 6-1-0 record. The only loss for the Patriots thus far is a 1-0 decision against Old Dominion in which the Monarchs scored their goal in the last 10 minutes. The Patriots offense has shown quick strike ability, scoring before the 27
th minute in five of their six wins.
History with the Patriots
W&M holds the advantage in what has been a lengthy series history against the Patriots, 26-16-6. W&M is 11-7-3 against GMU in Fairfax including an overtime win the last time the teams played there in 2020. Longtime conference rivals, this will be just the fourth time the squads have met since the Patriots left the CAA for the A10 in 2013. The Tribe holds a two-game win streak in the series
