WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary baseball (26-18, 9-9 CAA) fell in a lopsided game to No. 24 UNCW (28-16, 14-4 CAA) at home on Sunday, 18-6.
With a convincing win on Saturday as it held the Seahawks to just one run, the Tribe hoped to exit a tough two-week stretch on top but dropped the series finale to the top-25 visitors.
Once again moving ahead in the all-time strikeouts leaderboard, the Tribe's pitching staff combined to fan 12 Seahawks in the game for the fifth-highest season total of 445. Adding 36 strikeouts over the weekend, the 2024 staff trails the program-record mark by just 30 – 475 in 2004.
The Tribe belted a pair of home runs off the bats of
Joe Delossantos and
Luca Trigiani for a season total of 49, the ninth-most in a season in program history and the most since the 2014 Tribe hit 55.

Ben Parker, Trigiani and
Trey Christman each recorded a pair of hits in the contest. Parker's pair of hits extended his hitting streak to five games.
Lucas Carmichael extended his on-base streak to a season-high 11 games with a four-pitch walk in the bottom of the fifth inning.
UNCW started the scoring, belting a pair of home runs in the first inning and working up a nine-run lead aided by two early Tribe errors before the host team was able to answer with its first runs of the contest.
In the bottom of the third Parker scorched a 1-2 pitch off the centerfield wall for his team-leading third triple of the year. Delossantos followed with a sacrifice fly to scratch across a run for the Tribe.
Back-to-back two-out doubles up the left line from
Nate Goranson and
Anthony Greco scored another as W&M made an attempt to chip away at the Seahawks' lead.
Adding a six-spot in the fourth inning, once again aided by W&M defensive mishaps, the visitors made it a 15-2 ballgame.
The Tribe's pair of home runs arrived in the fifth inning, scoring three runs as Delossantos' solo shot and Trigiani's two-run homer to score
Lucas Carmichael each sailed over the left-field wall.
UNCW scattered three more runs throughout the remainder of the contest.
Alex Markus and
Reed Interdonato combined for a pair of innings in relief without allowing an earned run. Interdonato faced the minimum as his lone baserunner was hosed by
Witt Scafidi behind the plate to end the inning.
The Green & Gold added one final run to its total in the eighth, as Delossantos scored Christman on his second sacrifice fly of the day.
Brendan Kelly was credited with his first loss of the season as the Seahawks' early lead was not relinquished.
