RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary women's tennis closed out the regular season in style with its 11th-straight victory on Saturday afternoon. The Tribe topped in-state foe Richmond, 6-1, at the Westhampton Tennis Complex.
The 11 wins in a row equal the fourth-longest streak in school history as the Tribe improved to 15-5 on the year.
W&M captured the doubles point for the 17th time in 20 matches, before receiving singles wins from graduate students

How it Happened
- The Tribe used the combination of wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to secure the initial point of the match. Mejic and Davis continued to roll on line three, winning 6-1 over Elizabeth Novak and Lainey O'Neil. The Tribe pair improved to 6-0 on the year.
- Junior
Emma Fernald and Chen clinched the doubles point with a victory over Andrea Campodonico and Claire Le Du, 6-3, at No. 1. They won their second in a row to move to 11-5 at the top spot.
- In singles, the Tribe won in straight sets at the top four posts to put the match away. Chen dropped just three games in a convincing 6-3, 6-0 win over Carly Cohen at No. 2. The Tribe graduate student moved to 19-9 overall and 13-5 in dual-match play with the victory.
- Mejic ran her win streak to 10 matches at the No. 3 spot. She topped Leonor Oliveira, 6-2, 7-5, to up her ledger to 16-9 overall and 11-5 on line three.
- Gurholt and Stange each won their third matches in a row in straight sets. Gurholt rolled past Campodonico, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 1, while Stange won matching 6-3 sets over Lara Bakhaya at No. 4. Gurholt improved to an impressive 25-5 overall, including a 16-2 dual-match record. Stange pushed her mark to 18-7 on the year, including 14-4 in duals.
- Davis rounded out the Tribe victory with a three-set win at No. 6. After dropping the opening set in a tiebreaker to Polina Shitikova, the Green and Gold rookie responded with a 6-2 victory in the second and took the third-set super tiebreaker, 11-9. She improved to 18-10 overall and a remarkable 10-1 at No. 6.

The Tribe heads to Elon for the 2024 CAA Championship, April 25-28. The two-time defending CAA Champion will be a top-four seed and receive an opening-round bye. The tournament seeds and draw will be released on Monday, April 22.
