Baseball Takes Eighth-Straight Weekend, Fourth-Straight CAA Series Victory

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary baseball (25-11, 8-4 CAA) secured its eighth-straight weekend series victory with a 10-5 win over North Carolina A&T (19-15, 4-8 CAA) on Sunday.

An early offensive onslaught gave the Tribe a substantial lead early in the game, backing another impressive start from righty Nate Knowles.

Knowles followed his strong Tuesday start at No. 6 Duke, in which he earned his first victory of the week, with four no-hit, shutout innings for his second victory in as many appearances. The junior fanned six Aggies, five of them swinging.

A trio of home runs from outfielders Ben Parker, Henry Jackson and Joe Delossantos tacked on four runs for the Green & Gold.

Parker's homer came as one of his three hits on the day, which led both teams. Delossantos and Luca Trigiani joined him with multi-hit days, and freshman Josiah Seguin drove in a pair of runs.

The 12-hit game marked the 17th time the Tribe have hit for double digits, and the 10 runs produced the 12th double-digit-run game of the season.

After a quiet first inning for both teams, the Tribe erupted to score six in the bottom of the second.

Leading off the inning, Jackson reached third on an error in the Aggies' outfield. Trigiani, Trey Christman, Seguin and Lucas Carmichael scattered singles to score a pair. Christman took advantage of a wild pitch to add another run and Seguin crossed the plate on a second error.

With Carmichael left on, Parker ripped a 2-2 pitch to left field with his team-leading 10th home run of the year, bouncing it off the scoreboard to complete the Tribe's six-run inning.

Once again leading off the inning, Jackson belted his third home run of the week and his second in as many games to add another for the host team.

Nate Goranson reached base on a walk and Trigiani followed with an opposite-field double to put the pair in scoring position. Seguin sent a sacrifice fly to center field to give the Tribe a healthy lead through three.

Knowles completed his fourth no-hit frame, holding W&M's 8-0 lead to bring the Tribe back up to the plate. Delossantos smashed his ninth home run of the season to score the Tribe's lone run in the bottom of the frame.

NC A&T was able to scratch across its first run of the contest in the fifth inning on a lone hit and an RBI fielder's choice.

Mark Hindy tossed a scoreless sixth frame, getting a pair of Aggies to chase for his second and third strikeouts of the afternoon.

Continuing to put pressure on the Aggies, back-to-back first-pitch doubles from none other than Parker and Delossantos brought the Tribe's tally to 10 runs, marking a nine-run lead.

The visitors added four more runs late in the game to cut into the steep W&M lead, managing 10 hits in the contest, but the Tribe held onto the advantage.

Securing it's eighth series victory in as many attempts, the Tribe advanced to 8-4 in conference play, remaining in the CAA's top four teams.
