WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – On Sunday afternoon, William & Mary women's tennis did what it has done a lot of lately, WIN. The Tribe extended its win streak to six matches with a 6-1 triumph over Temple at the McCormack-Naglesen Tennis Center.
The Tribe (10-5) captured the doubles point for the sixth-straight match with wins at the top two positions in taking the early lead. Graduate students Chen Yu (No. 2) and

Francesca Davis posted singles wins in the Tribe victory over the Owls (7-5).
How It Happened
- W&M won the doubles point for the 12th time in its 15 matches this season with wins at the top two positions.
- Stange and Gurholt extended their win streak to four matches, topping Jessie Zheng and Evie Wei, 6-3, at No. 2 to give W&M the lead in doubles. The Tribe pair moved to 8-4 at No. 2.
- Chen and junior
Emma Fernald clinched the initial point of the match behind a 6-2 win over Mariathi Christoforidou and Samantha Nanere at the top spot. The Tribe pair won its fifth in a row, 10th match overall, and improved to 9-3 at No. 1.
- Chen quick pushed the Tribe lead to 2-0, dropping just three games in a 6-1, 6-2 win over Sena Takebe at No. 2. The Tribe graduate student won her second match of the week and improved to 14-8 overall and 8-2 on line two.
- Davis won her second-straight match, dropping Wei, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 6. She upped her mark to 13-9 overall, including a 6-1 mark on line six.
- Gurholt continued her dominance at the top spot, clinching the team triumph with a straight-sets win. The Tribe junior dispatched of Nanere, 6-2, 6-3, for her fifth win in a row. Gurholt ran her season ledgers to team-best of 20-4 overall, 11-2 in dual-match play and 8-2 at No. 1.
- At No. 4, Stange pushed her win streak to seven matches with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Vineetha Mummadi. The Tribe junior improved to 13-6 on the year and 7-4 at No. 4.
- Mejic rounded out the Tribe victory with her fifth-straight win on line three. She rallied from a set deficit to knocked off Zheng, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. Mejic moved to 11-9 overall and 7-5 at No. 3.

The Tribe wraps up its three-match homestand when it welcomes in-state foe Norfolk State to Williamsburg on Wednesday, March 27. The contest is set for a 3 p.m. start time at the Mackesy Tennis Center, weather permitting.
