PRINCETON, N.J. – Playing without its top two players in the lineup, No. 65 William & Mary men's tennis dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 21 Princeton on Saturday afternoon.
Graduate student
Bill Duo provided the lone point for the Tribe (5-5) with a victory at the No. 4 singles position.
How It Happened
- In doubles, sophomore
Albert Hansen and freshman
Nikita Bortnichek picked up a win at No. 3, topping Alan Kam and Evan Wen, 6-3. The duo improved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in dual-match action.
- The Tigers (13-4) took the opening point of the match with wins at the top two doubles spots.
- After Princeton won at the top two singles positions, Duo got W&M on the board in his first dual-match singles action of the year. He topped Landon Ardila in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-2, upping his record to 6-2 on the season.
- The Tigers cemented their victory with straight-set wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles.
- On line six, junior
Alexander Karman took the opening set from Alan Kam, 7-5. The Princeton player rallied to win the second, 6-1, and then out-lasted Karman in the third-set super tiebreaker, 10-6.
Up Next
The Tribe heads to Monmouth on Sunday for a 4 p.m. match. The second CAA tilt of the season will be played at the Little Silver Tennis Club in New Jersey.
