Baseball Falls in Series Finale to Fordham

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary baseball fell to Fordham Sunday after a late rally allowed the Rams to take control of the game. Following a Tribe doubleheader sweep on Friday, the Rams picked up a victory the final game of the series with a score of 17-1.

After a 2-1 weekend, the Tribe's overall record fell to 10-5, while Fordham moved to 3-11 on the year.

Ben Parker's seventh multi-hit game, saw his fourth and fifth home runs of the year to tie for the team lead. The graduate student's three-hit game concluded his .500 AVG week in which four of his hits were for extra bases, including his pair of homers on Sunday.

Alex Markus opened the game with a pair of perfect frames before the Rams got on the board in the third inning. Scoring three, Fordham took an early lead.

Parker drove in the first pair of runs for the Tribe, smashing a home run in the bottom of the third inning and driving in Lucas Carmichael on a single up the middle to chip away at the Rams' three-run lead.

Fordham came across for three runs in the top of the sixth, taking a 6-2 lead, before the Tribe answered with a five-run bottom of the sixth.

Henry Jackson led off the Tribe's half of the sixth inning with an 0-2 single to right field before Nate Goranson and Luca Trigiani drew walks to load the bases. Jerry Barnes III blooped a single up the left field line to score Jackson and Goranson. Carmichael then drove in Trigiani, pulling the Tribe within one.

A go-ahead, two-out, two-run homer carried over the center-field wall for Parker's second long ball of the game, giving the Tribe a one-run advantage. This marked the outfielder's first three-hit game and first two-home run game in the Green & Gold, as well as his second four-RBI game on the year.

Fordham put together 11 runs in the final three innings, while holding off the Tribe offense to take the final game of the series, 17-7.
