10/31/2024 4:09:00 PM

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.-- William & Mary announced today that Head Women's Golf Coach Ed Teer has resigned his position effective immediately.

Teer was named the program's 11th head coach in 2021.

"I want to thank Ed for his years of service to the program and to our student-athletes," Director of Athletics Brian D. Mann said. "We appreciate all that he did for women's golf at W&M, and we wish him the best going forward."

Mann said Tim Pemberton, head coach for Men's Golf, will serve as the Interim Director of Golf for both programs, and Mike Leach, the assistant men's coach, will serve as the Interim Head Coach of Women's Golf. A national search for the new head coach will begin immediately.

Teer was named head coach after seven years as an assistant coach for W&M Golf.  He was the first head women's golf coach for W&M since 1999, when the Tribe combined the men's and women's programs.

In the 2023-24 season, the team's 308.54 scoring average was the seventh best in program history, highlighted by seven top-10 finishes and a pair of top-five finishes. During the course of his career, numerous golfers were named to All-CAA teams.

His first season as an assistant at W&M in 2015-16 was one of the best in school history. W&M placed third in the CAA Championship and Alessandra Liu was CAA Golfer of the Year, VaSID State Golfer of the Year, CAA Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year and CoSIDA Third-Team Academic All-American. She became the first W&M player to earn a selection as an individual to the NCAA Regional after winning four events, and posting eight top-five finishes.

Teer joined the Tribe after running his golf academy at Williamsburg National Golf Club for several years.
