CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The William & Mary duo of Francesca Davis and senior Hedda Gurholt advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Atlantic Region Doubles Championship, before falling to a nationally-ranked Virginia pair to close out the event on Sunday.
 
Davis and Gurholt, who were a No. 9-16 seed in the tournament, opened the day with an 8-6 upset win over the No. 6-seeded ODU team of Lidiia Rasskouskaia and Victoria Matasova. It was the Tribe pair's seventh win together over the last two seasons.
 
The Green and Gold duo's run came to an end in the quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon. The No. 2-seeded UVA team of Margaret Navarro and Sara Ziodato, who are also ranked No. 13 nationally, topped Davis and Gurholt, 8-3, to advance to Monday's semifinals.
