TRIBE NOTES

Last Time Out
W&M dropped an entertaining match to No. 7 North Carolina on Tuesday, 5-2. After the Tar Heels took a 2-0 lead in the 24th minute, Williamsburg native Augie Cooper pulled the Tribe within one off a give-and-go from Tre Barrett. The goal was the first of the season for Cooper. The next three goals belonged to UNC to make it 5-1. Gabe Ruitenberg provided the final goal of the game off an assist from Thor Sigurjonsson in the 72nd minute, making the final scoreline 5-2. UNC led in shots 15-11.

He's a Freshman?
Tre Barrett has played like anything but a rookie in his first collegiate season. With the assist on Tuesday, the Hampton, Va. native has a total of 11 points on the year, good for the team-lead. Barrett's five assists are the most on the Tribe as well.

Not Afraid of a Challenge
W&M's schedule this season has been a challenging one to say the least. The Tribe's meeting with No. 23 NC State will mark their fifth game against a ranked opponent this season and fourth at home. The last time the Tribe played five ranked opponents in a season was 2015. This marks the first time ever that W&M has hosted four ranked teams in the same season.

Standings Update
Heading into Saturday's conference action the Tribe sits just one point outside the last CAA postseason spot, in a three-way tie with Delaware and UNCW at six points. Campbell currently holds the sixth and final postseason spot. The Tribe and the Camels will play in W&M's home finale next Saturday in a match that is sure to have postseason implications.

Scouting the Dragons and Wolfpack
Drexel enters Saturday's match in fourth place in the CAA with nine points and a 7-4-0, 3-2-0 CAA record. Interestingly enough, W&M and Drexel are the only two CAA teams without a draw on the ledger this season. The Dragons are winners of three straight which includes wins over nationally ranked Hofstra and Stony Brook.

The No. 23 Wolfpack are coming off three consecutive draws with ranked teams, including No. 2 Stanford. NC State is 5-2-5 on the year and 1-2-2 in the ACC. They will host No. 10 SMU on Saturday before traveling to Williamsburg.

History with the Dragons and Wolfpack
The Tribe has had success against Drexel all-time, leading the series 16-6-2, but will be looking for their first wins over the Dragons since 2021. Last year the teams battled to a 2-2 draw in Williamsburg, while the last meeting at Drexel went the way of the hosts, 4-1, in 2022.

The Tribe and the Wolfpack will meet for the 13th time on Wednesday in what has been an even series. NC State holds a 6-5-1 advantage all-time and took the last meeting in Raleigh in 2022. The last eight meetings, dating back to 2003, have all been decided by a goal or less as the Wolfpack makes their first trip to Williamsburg since 2019.
