W&M Athletics Foundation 2023 Fiscal Year Report

Dear Friends of William & Mary Athletics,

What an extraordinary journey it has been, and we are filled with gratitude for the remarkable achievements we've accomplished together this past fiscal year. Your unwavering support and generous contributions have made W&M Athletics better in ways we could only dream, and your impact has been felt by all 500 of our student-athletes, and all 23 of our programs.

There is no limit to what we can achieve when we stand united. The numbers speak for themselves – we raised $13.1 million this year in total gifts and pledges, surpassing last year's $10.9 million. Twelve teams experienced increased fundraising, with seven achieving their goals, all as part of our $6,819,730 in annual gifts received across the department . The $808,000 that was raised on OTOD marked the largest amount collected in the history of the athletics department. This progress toward our overall goal of $55 million in the All In campaign is a prime example of our collective success.

2022-23 Advancement Chart

Thanks to your investment, the Griffin Society has thrived, with 92 members from 22 states contributing $1,858,500 annually and pledging an astonishing $6,535,500. Notably, the $736,000 donation for the David Murphy Football Endowment took our football fundraising to an incredible $1.69 million for the year.

Beyond the numbers, our community spirit has flourished. We welcomed 760 new donors who embraced the Tribe Athletics community, making it stronger and more vibrant. Events like the Lord Botetourt Affair and the Women's Lacrosse Golf Outing, hosted by NFL Hall of Famer Ronde Barber and NFL Head Coach and W&M alum Mike Tomlin, embody our camaraderie and generosity.

It's been an exhilarating year since the groundbreaking of the Mackesy Sports Performance Center (MSPC) — the crown jewel of the W&M Athletics Complex. Student-athletes, coaches, and fans will all benefit from this renovation and expansion of Kaplan Arena, and we're thrilled to announce the arrival of a brand-new, cutting-edge scoreboard this Fall. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks, and thanks to everyone who is helping make this project possible!

As we enter this exciting phase, W&M Athletics is diligently working to secure approximately $1.6 million to finalize Phase 1 of the Complex. The dedication and passion of our community have been truly inspiring, and through the All In Campaign, we have raised an astounding $46 million thus far. With just a little under $9 million left to raise by December 31, 2023, we remain confident in achieving this goal.

Above all, thank you for being the driving force behind our success. Your contributions pave the way for a better tomorrow.  Also, special thanks go to our resource councils, ambassadors, LBA committee, and volunteers. Your hours and efforts do not go unnoticed, and we appreciate all the help and energy you bring to support the Tribe. We could not do it without you.

On behalf of the entire WMAF team – Jenna, Jasmine, Danielle, Jason, Al, James, and Jarrad – thank you for making this year unforgettable.

With profound appreciation and heartfelt gratitude,

Go Tribe!
