Sarah Houle was selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The 2023 Academic All-District® At-Large Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender. The At-Large program includes women's beach volleyball, women's bowling, women's crew/rowing, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's Rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo, and men's wrestling.
Houle earned All-CAA Second Team honors this season, becoming just the second Tribe player to be named All-CAA on three occasions during her career. She led the team and posted the ninth-best single-season stroke average at 75.79. Houle also recorded three top-5 performances and four top-10s during her final season at W&M.
Houle wrapped up her career as the program's all-time leader in stroke average at 75.87. She ranked in the top 10 in school history in career rounds of par or better (2nd at 14), winning % (3rd at 77%), top 10s (4th at 14), top 5s (5th at 8), rounds played (8th at 93), and wins (9th at 1,927).
Academically, Houle was named a finalist for the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year award this spring. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting last May and is enrolled in the MBA program at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business. Houle is a four-time W&M Provost Award winner and was named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll each of her seasons on campus.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Each institution is limited to four nominees for tennis
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.
