Men's Tennis Notches 6-1 Senior Day Win over Navy

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis turned in a strong Senior Day performance topping Navy, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Mackesy Tennis Center.
 
Senior George Davis (No. 1) and graduated students Joseph Brailovsky (No. 2) and Daniel Pellerito celebrated the day with singles wins as the Tribe (8-9) won its second match in as many days. Sophomore Alexander Karman and freshman Albert Hansen  also added a singles victories, while W&M captured the doubles point for the third time in the last four matches.
 
How It Happened
- W&M took a 1-0 lead winning the doubles point behind victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Playing together for the first time, sophomore Sean Joseph and Hansen did not drop a game in downing Dylan Carol and Eric Liu at No. 3.
- Brailovsky and Karman wasted little time clinching the initial point of the match with a 6-2 win over Nathan Nguyen and Matthew McNair at No. 2. The Tribe pair improved to 4-3 on line two.
- Brailovsky carried his strong play into singles, dropping just three games in a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Nicholas Nguyen at No. 2. He won his third in a row, pushing his team-leading singles ledger to 19-11.
- Hansen extended the Tribe lead to 3-0 with a convincing win at No. 6. He dropped only two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Carol. It was his eighth win of the season and second in dual-match action.
- Pellerito clinched the Tribe victory with a straight-sets win at No. 5. The Tribe grad student dropped just two games in a dominant, 6-0, 6-2, triumph. It was his 11th win of the season and second on line five.
- At No. 4, Karman made it 5-0 in favor of the home team with a straight-sets win. He also won his 11th match of the year, improving to 3-0 at No.4, thanks to a 6-0, 6-4 victory over McNair.
- Davis rounded out the Tribe win with a come-from-behind three-set win over Nathan Nguyen at No. 1. After dropping the first set, 7-5, the Tribe senior won the second, 6-4, and rolled in the third-set super breaker, 10-1, over Nathan Nguyen. It was his eighth win of the season and seventh at the No. 1 spot.

The Tribe returns to action on Wednesday when it welcomes Richmond to the Mackesy Tennis Center for a 3:30 p.m. start.
