RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary women's tennis closed out the regular season with a 4-1 setback at Richmond on Sunday afternoon. The loss snapped a six-match win streak for the Tribe.
Sophomore
Hedda Gurholt provided the lone Tribe (12-5) point on the afternoon with a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles, her seventh victory in a row.
How It Happened

Sofiya Kuzina and sophomore
Ine Stange gave W&M the early lead with a win at No. 1. The No. 85-ranked tandem in the country topped Polina Shitikova and Andrea Campodonico, 6-2. The Tribe duo improved to 10-2 on the season and won its third in a row.
- The Spiders (7-14) rallied with narrow 6-4 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to secure the initial point of the match.
- Gurholt picked up the lone straight-sets singles win on the day. She downed Leonor Oliveira, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 to draw the Tribe even at one. She improved to 18-7 overall and 13-3 at the top spot.
- The balance of the match came down to three-set matches at the last five posts.
- The Spiders rallied for come-from-behind three-set wins at No. 2 and No. 6 to go with a three-set victory at No. 5 to secure the team triumph.
Up Next
The Tribe hosts the Colonial Athletic Association Championship beginning on Thursday at the Mackesy Tennis Center. Seeds for the championship will be announced on Monday with the tournament running from April 20-23.
