Second Annual W&M Lacrosse Golf Tournament Raises Nearly $100,000

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – With NFL Hall of Fame cornerback Rondé Barber and Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin '95 once again generously providing support to ensure the success of William & Mary Athletics, the Second Annual Tribe Lacrosse Golf Tournament exceeded expectations and raised nearly $100,000 for the lax program.

Organized by the extraordinary volunteer efforts of Claudia Barber, Rondé's wife, this year's tournament more than doubled the amount raised during last year's inaugural event.

"We are very grateful to Claudia for helping organize such a great event," said Jarrad Turner, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Advancement. "We really appreciate Rondé and Mike coming and supporting W&M Lacrosse. We cannot say thank you enough about how much we appreciate their support."

Photos from the event are available here.

More than 100 W&M supporters attended this year's sold-out event hosted by Ford's Colony Country Club in Williamsburg.

In addition to golf and a spirted Q&A session with Barber and Tomlin, the event featured an exclusive auction with notable items that included an autographed Tom Brady football and a Steelers Fan Package with four tickets to Tomlin's private suite and field passes.

The Optimal Service Group of Wells Faro Advisors once again served as the event's title patron. Joe Montgomery '74, a former Tribe football player, is the company's managing director-investments.

As always, the all the revenue generated by the event will go directly to support the student-athletes in the women's lacrosse program and provide the needed resources to help them excel in the classroom and on the competition field.
