Dear Friends of William & Mary Athletics,

The campus has quieted for a few days, while the University closes this week in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. It's a great time to reflect on what we are grateful for, and the Tribe is fortunate to have a long list!

While many in the department may be out of the office, there is plenty to do before Thursday, so we will focus on just a few of the wonderful people who make the Tribe so special:
  • Two longtime friends of Athletics were celebrated during the Richmond football game on Saturday when George Williams was recognized for 33 years of service with the athletics facilities staff.  Also honored was Jay Colley, who for 42 years (and counting) has been the "Voice of the Tribe".   Both received a warm and well-earned reception from the home crowd.

  • Our coaches and staff have lives and families  ruled by the schedules of our 23 teams, yet they guide, mentor, encourage and care for our student-athletes.
  • Our 500 student-athletes have schedules packed with academics, training and competitions, but they find time to support members of the community. Recently, athletics sent 19 student-athletes to Matthew Whaley Elementary School to act as teachers' aides. And our Student-Athlete Advisory Council is finalizing their Holly Day gifts for needy families, a local tradition.
  • And, finally, our wonderful alumni, fans, and friends who do so much to support our student-athletes, and who give generously in so many ways. Thank you for all that you do.

Giving Tuesday
Mark your calendars for next Tuesday, Nov. 28. It is the day observed around the world for people to demonstrate their generosity to their favorite causes and organizations. Please consider a gift to Athletics as we prepare to end 2023 on a high note. Stay tuned for more details!

Happy Thanksgiving!
All of us in Athletics wish you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday and remind you that Tribe basketball will be going strong over the holiday with the women's team in Miami for the FIU Thanksgiving Classic and the men's team here in Williamsburg vs. UMBC on Saturday.

Go Tribe!
