TRIBE NOTES
Last Time Out
On Sunday, the Tribe capped off their regular season with a 2-1 win against the same Northeastern team that they will face Thursday. W&M scored a pair of first half goals from
Madison Moon and
Kenna Zier to take a 2-0 lead in the 21
st minute. The Huskies climbed to within one in the 54
th minute, but were unable to come all the way back, cementing the two sides matching up in the postseason.
Postseason History
The Tribe finds themselves in the CAA postseason for the second time in as many years, entering as the five seed after posting 21 points in the CAA table. Last year, with eight teams in the postseason, the Tribe lost to second-seeded Drexel 2-1 in the quarters.
Prior to last year's appearance, the Tribe hadn't been in the postseason since 2017. The Green and Gold is looking for their first postseason win since 2017 as well, when they beat James Madison in the quarterfinals. W&M is searching for their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2015 if they were able to win the CAA crown.
CAA Standouts
The Tribe had a trio of players honored on Wednesday when the conference announced their All-CAA teams.
Nicole Sellers earned her first career all-conference honor, being put on the first team.
Ivey Crain was All-CAA for the second year in a row, being named to the second team.
Molly Widderich represented W&M with an all-rookie team selection.
We Meet Again
The last time the Tribe played the same team in back-to-back games was in 2013, also coming against the Huskies. The two sides drew in Boston before meeting 12 days later in Williamsburg. Northeastern advanced on penalty kicks in the CAA Tournament.
Been A Minute
The Tribe's win Sunday over the Huskies was the first time that they have beaten them since 2015. That game was a 3-1 decision, once again at Martin Family Stadium. The last time W&M beat Northeastern outside of Williamsburg was an away contest in 2011.
Series History
The Huskies lead the all-time series 11-6-4 as the teams meet for the 21
st time. Northeastern has won all three postseason meetings between the two, with the last coming in 2016 on penalty kicks.
