WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary Volleyball's win streak was stopped at four as Hofstra took the first match of the weekend on Saturday in Hempstead, N.Y., with a final score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-23).

The Tribe fell to 11-8 on the season and 6-3 in conference play, while the Pride improved to 15-5 and 5-4 in the CAA. 

Taylor Burrell recorded double-digit kills for the third-consecutive match, leading the Tribe with 11. Amy Schwem had a team-leading 16 assists and Emma Minnick followed with 15 of her own.

Sabrina Malcolm hit with impressive accuracy, adding six kills and no errors on seven attacks for an .857 hitting percentage.

The Pride earned the first point in the first pair of sets and despite a solid fight by the Tribe, who forced 15 tied scores and six lead changes, Hofstra regained their lead to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.

An 8-0 scoring run in the middle of the third set flipped the Tribe's three-point deficit to a 17-13 lead over the Pride, highlighting the Tribe's battle back. Audrey Brcka hammered a pair of kills and Burrell and Olivia Esposito each added a kill of their own.

Holding the Pride to a .189 hitting percentage in the final frame, the Tribe were able to capitalize on Hofstra errors, but ultimately fell in the third set by only two points, 25-23, to end the match.

The Green and Gold will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m., looking to even the weekend series in Hempstead.

Next weekend, the Tribe will return to Kaplan Arena for William & Mary homecoming weekend, hosting NC A&T at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20. These matches will feature W&M volleyball alumni recognition as well as events over the course of the weekend.
