ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Junior Hedda Gurholt and freshman Francesca Davis won the top doubles flight at the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational over the weekend.
 
Junior Ine Stange advanced to the final of Flight B in singles, while Gurholt (Flight A), junior Alessandra Anghel (Flight A), graduate student Mila Mejic (Flight B) and senior Kensie Cricchio (Flight D) all earn spots in their respective singles flight semifinals.
 
Gurholt and Davis won four matches over the three days to captures the top doubles draw. The Tribe tandem opened with 6-3 wins over Villanova's Isabella Steffen and Emma Brogan and UNCW's Stela Joksimovic and Eda Arli on the opening day of the tournament. Gurholt and Davis topped George Washington's Stella Wiesemann and Victoria Sasinka, 6-2, in the semifinals, before knocking off Emily Tannenbaum and Stella Ribaudo of Navy, 6-3, in the championship match. Davis is 7-0 in doubles action to start her rookie season, while Gurholt moved to 5-1.
 
In singles action, Stange led the way, posting three wins on the way to the championship match in Flight B. She topped George Washington's Victoria Sasinka, 6-1, 6-1, before downing Navy's Stella Ribaudo in three sets, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 10-6.
 
Mejic advanced to the semifinals of Flight B as well with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Georgetown's Paige Gilbert. The Tribe teammates squared off in the semifinals with Stange topping Mejic, 6-3, 6-3.
 
In the championship match, Stange rallied for force a third set, but suffered a narrow 11-9 tiebreaker loss to Navy's Samantha Johns in the third set. Stange is 5-1 in singles action during the fall.
 
Gurholt and Anghel both won a pair of matches to earn a spot in the top singles flight semifinals. Gurholt picked up straight-set wins over UNCW's Eda Arli, 6-4, 6-3, and George Washington's Gabriela Giraldo, 6-1, 6-4. Anghel notched straight-set wins over Georgetown's Avantika Willy, 6-4, 6-1, and UNC Asheville's Ami Grace Dougah, 6-4, 6-3. Both Tribe players suffered three-set losses in the semifinals to Navy opponents. Gurholt sits at 5-1 in singles action, while Anghel moved to 4-2.
 
Cricchio rounded out the Tribe singles semifinalists. She notched come-from-behind three-set wins over UNCW's Gabriela Glickstein in the first round and Navy's Kate Lee in the quarterfinals. Her run came to an end at the hands of Villanova's Lauren Monti in the semifinals.
