WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – For the second-straight week, the William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery  goes to Tribe field hockey as junior Maddie George earned the honor on Tuesday.

George was voted as this week's award winner by the Tribe fanbase via social media polls on both the @TribeAthletics Twitter and Instagram accounts. Volleyball's Sarah Callender, football's Darius Wilson and cross country's Catherine Garrison were also honored as finalists for the weekly award.

George led the Tribe to an overtime upset of No. 6 Liberty on Sunday. She made a career-high 12 saves, including 10 in the second half and overtime, to shutout the nation's top scoring team. George was named the CAA co-Player of the Week for her efforts.

On the year, George leads the CAA and ranks among the national leaders in saves, save percentage, shutouts and goals against average. She is third in the country in shutouts (2), fifth in save % (86.1), 10th in saves per game (7.75) and 20th in GAA (1.12).

An economics major, George was named to the NFHCA All-Academic Team last season. She is also a two-year CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll honoree.
