RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary freshman
Ivey Crain was named the Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
It marks the third weekly CAA award for Crain this season and the second week in a row she has been honored. She was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Aug. 22 and last week.
Crain scored all three W&M goals in helping the Tribe to a 1-0-1 start in CAA play with both games on the road in Long Island. She leads W&M with six goals, which also ranks third in the CAA and tops among league rookies.
Her first-half rocket from the top of the box gave W&M a 1-0 lead at Stony Brook in an eventual draw in the league opening with the Seawolves.
Crain scored three minutes into the game with Hofstra on a nice shot from in close off the outside of her foot to beat the Hofstra GK. She raced on a sprint from midfield, finishing with a one-timer inside the penalty area to extend W&M's lead to 2-0 with a counter-attack goal. The win pushed W&M's unbeaten streak to four matches.
The Tribe returns to action with a pair of home matches next week. W&M welcomes UNCW to Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field on Thursday, Sept. 29, for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Green and Gold hosts Charleston on Sunday, Oct. 2, at noon. Both matches will be streamed on FloFC.
