WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary volleyball will hit the road this weekend for a pair of matches at Elon. The Tribe and Phoenix will face off Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Elon's Schar Center.
Â
The Tribe is coming off a 3-0 sweep of UNCW last Sunday and will bring a 1-1 CAA record into the weekend, while Elon is 2-0 in league play after winning four-set and five-set decisions against CAA newcomer NC A&T last weekend.Â
Â
The weekend will see Tribe freshman middle blocker
Ryann Love face off against her older sister Sydney who holds down the right side for Elon. Both sisters have been factors in the CAA this season as Ryann leads the league with 1.35 blocks per set, while Sydney has collected 36 total blocks at a 0.90 per set rate.Â
Â
Love is not the only Tribe freshman to lead the league in a category as classmate
Sarah Callender paces the CAA with .47 service aces per frame. Libero
Anna Porter ranks second in the league with 4.47 digs per set and
Sabrina Malcolm's .350 hitting percentage is the fourth best in the CAA.Â
Â
William & Mary has had recent success against the Phoenix winning three of the past four matchups. Last fall the two teams split a pair of matches, and in the spring of 2021, the Tribe took a pair of four-set matches in Williamsburg.Â
Â
Through four weeks, the Tribe's three transfers have played a large role in the team's success.
Emma Minnick has dished out 171 assists and has recorded three double-doubles, while
Taylor Burrell leads all William & Mary hitters with 2.76 kills per set.
Eleanor Stothoff has 2.70 kills per set and had a season-high 17 last Saturday against UNCW.Â
Â
Junior middle
Sabrina Malcolm has been dominant through the first month of the season leading the offense for William & Mary with 28 blocks and 83 kills. Malcolm has also been strong at the service line with eight aces on the year.Â

Both of the weekend matches will be available to watch on FloVolleyball.
