WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — After posting an unbeaten record in its non-conference slate, the No. 14 William & Mary football team will open its league schedule when it hosts Elon at Zable Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Off to its best start since 2009, W&M will look to improve to 4-0 this weekend. The Tribe dominated the non-conference portion of its schedule and outscored the opposition by 20.0 points per game. In addition to averaging 37.3 points per game, W&M ranks ninth nationally in total offense (474.0) and third in rushing (287.7). Defensively, the Tribe leads the nation in sacks (14.0) and ranks 17th in the country in scoring defense (17.3). Sophomore linebacker John Pius has provided much of the production and leads the nation in sacks (7.0) and TFL (10.5).
After opening its season with a 42-31 setback at Vanderbilt, Elon bounced back with wins against Wofford (26-0) and Gardner-Webb (30-24). The Phoenix currently leads the CAA in total defense (279.0) and is allowing just 97.0 yards per game on the ground. Offensively, Elon ranks third in the conference in total offense (446.3) and is averaging 284.0 yards per game through the air.
Saturday's game will mark the eighth meeting between W&M and Elon, as the Tribe owns a 5-2 advantage. W&M's has won the last three matchups, including last year's contest at Elon, 34-31.
