PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – William & Mary men's tennis closed out play at the Penn Invitational on Sunday. Tribe doubles teams went a perfect 4-0 against competition from Drexel and Dartmouth, while the Green and Gold split its singles matches.
In doubles, graduate students
Joseph Brailovsky and
Andres Silva picked up an 8-5 win over the Dartmouth team of Alex Knox-Jones and Waleed Qadir. Graduate student
Daniel Pellerito and sophomore
Alexander Karman also defeated a Dartmouth pair, topping Henry Ren and Logan Chen, 8-5.
Two Tribe teams posted wins over Drexel duos. Graduate student
Bill Duo and senior
George Davis upended Drexel's Alex De Sousa and Daniel Dudockin, 8-4, while freshman
Daniel Cohen and sophomore
Sean Joseph posted an 8-6 victory over Janackovic and Sanchez.
In singles action, Cohen and Pellerito both improved to 2-1 at the Penn Invitational with victories. Cohen rallied for a three-set win over Dartmouth's Miles Groom, 4-6, 6-0, 7-5. Pellerito won in matching straight-sets, 6-4, 6-4, over Dartmouth's Henry Ren.
Silva won in straight-sets at the top position for W&M over Drexel's Alex De Sousa, 6-4, 6-4. It was his first singles win as a member of the Tribe.
Freshman
Albert Hansen posted his first collegiate singles win, topping Drexel's Hugo Brungs. The Tribe rookie won the first set, 7-5, before the Dragon player retired.
