PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – William & Mary men's tennis opened the fall season at the Penn Invitational on Friday. The Green and Gold picked up a pair of doubles wins and a trio of singles wins against the host Quakers on the opening day of the event.
In doubles, the Tribe split with the Quakers. Graduate students
Bill Duo and Daniel Pelleriot downed Sameer Gangoli and Tal Goodman, 8-5, while sophomores
Sean Joseph and Alex Karman topped Matt Rutter and Kian Vakili, 8-4.
Both Joseph and Karman also picked up singles wins. Joseph won the opening set from Baylor Sai, 6-4, and led 3-0 in the second before the Quaker player retired. Karman won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 over Tal Goodman.
Freshman
Daniel Cohen won his first match as a member of the Tribe, downing Zach Smith, 6-3, 6-4.
W&M returns to action on Saturday when it squares off with Princeton indoors at 10 a.m.
